When I think of banned books I think &#039;Oh that&#039;s what they do in China.&#039;  The idea is so Stalinesque and yet he&#039;s dead and the wall is down.  For me, the thought never occured that it could happen in North America!  

Having just woken up my thoughts aren&#039;t so clear but what makes censorship ever a good idea?  I mean if these books are so controversial why not put a rating system on them, like they do with movies... like this book is rate R for strong language and gratuitous violence.  But hmmm... that isn&#039;t the literary way is it.  I remember reading Lolita, which wasn&#039;t as shocking as I would have expected, yet the sheer thrill that the book had been banned kept me flipping the pages.

This with other things in the news just makes me wonder are we going in reverse as a society?  More and more I feel like an animal in cage that doesn&#039;t know it exists.]]></description>
