2011 has been quite a busy year for digital activism, starting with the Arab Spring and now the Occupy Wall Street movement. Because of the surge in online organizing, Global Wire Associates has also been in demand for hosting a wide variety of technology trainings and private consultations. By the end of this year, we will have hosted dozens of trainings and consultations in 8 countries with over 900 people in attendance.
So now it is that time of the year when we need to start thinking about our schedule for trainings and consultations in 2012. This is where we need your help. Tell us what you would like us to do for you in the new year. What digital tools for social change would you like to learn more about? Would you like to set up either an in-person training, webinar or a private consultation with us? What topics would you like to see featured on this site (we also have plans for redesigning this space)?
One sure thing we will be doing in 2012 is looking at ways to deal with the growing problem of e-waste and how we can address it better as a social justice concern.
All we need you to do is send us an email at info (at) globalwireonline (dot) org with training/consultation requests, as well as any suggestions, comments, complaints or concerns about 2011 programming and the 2012 schedule by November 30, 2011. Any training/consultation requests received after that date will be looked at on a first come, first serve basis based on time availability and other logistical concerns. If you have participated in any GWA programming this year, you should have already received a survey from us the first week in October.
(Please Note: We reserve the right to cancel or postpone in-person trainings or consultations based on travel warnings issued by the US Department of State.)
Most importantly, we work for you. We are only as good as you utilize us.
Thanks so much and we look forward to working with you in 2012!
-Talia, Marjane, Philip and Maria
