Global Wire Associates launches today its yearlong look at the history of global communication. How We Communicate will be an educational review of important media tools that have been used throughout human history, from cave paintings and papyrus to iPhones and the Internet of Things.
“The history of communication is really the history of mankind,” said Global Wire Associates managing director Talia Whyte. “Many of the communication tools we use today are a reflect of how our society functions. Communication is a big part of our organization, and to really understand current and future trends, we have to also understand the historical back story.”
This series will also look at both good and bad aspects of communications – how has it benefited society or created more gaps and disparities. Many of our reviews will have an emphasis on the impact of media as agents in development and social change. Please join us on this fun and educational journey in upcoming monthly posts.
In the meantime, check out some vintage history about the International Telecommunications Union.
